Want to work in the media industry as a Multi Camera Live Studio Director/Vision Mixer?

Most people in the broadcast and media industry know that Trickbox TV provides outside broadcast facilities, live streaming and studio and equipment hire, but did you know that we also run a Live Directing and Vision Mixing short course from our Tower Bridge TV Studios?

Delivered by Del Brown, a multi camera director/vision mixer with over 20 years’ experience working in live TV, this two-day short course, which celebrates its 11th year anniversary in 2018, teaches delegates a range of skills from the basic tools required for vision mixing, all the way through to multi-camera live directing. Del has worked with delegates from a host of high profile companies including: MTV, Bloomberg, BT Sport, SIS, Timeline, Red Bull and Sky, who signed up their staff to improve their skills. He also teaches in four universities, including Ravensbourne.

Del first met Trickbox Managing Director Liam Laminman in 2014 when they discussed the possibilities of using the Tower Bridge TV Studios for the course. Del says, “After looking at various options, Trickbox was the best of the bunch. Their well-equipped gallery and studio provides great facilities, an excellent location and they’re a lovely bunch of people to work with!”

The two-day short course is aimed at a wide range of candidates: from new starters to industry graduates wishing to gain further skills; vision mixers with little or no directing experience; directors with little or no vision mixing experience; right through to established director/vision mixers wishing to enhance their skills. It provides intensive, hands-on training in the role of the live studio director/vision mixer.

Working in Trickbox’s fully equipped, multi-camera Tower Bridge TV Studios with a full crew, delegates learn the combined skills required to both direct and vision mix live studio output, unrehearsed and unscripted. Techniques covered include: understanding the vision mixing desk, keying, layering, ME banks, transitions etc., directing multi-cameras, understanding camera angles, working with talent and using correct terminology. It offers a balance of theory and plenty of opportunities for hands-on training.

At the end of the course, Del provides delegates with useful advice and information on career paths, websites and organisations for director/vision mixers within the industry.

Are you or someone you know interested? The next course will take place on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th June 2018. But don’t delay, as only two out of four places remain.  Contact us today to book your place, for more information or to register your interest on future course dates. Find out more here.
